# Help Me — full page index > Help Me is a community help app for the Fargo–Moorhead area. People ask for everyday, non-emergency help; approved helpers nearby can accept and meet in public. Canonical site: https://helpme.fyi App download: https://testflight.apple.com/join/TDcwmAe8 Support: support@helpme.fyi ## Product rules Help Me does not replace 911 or any official emergency service. If you are in danger, call emergency services first. Helping is gated. A helper submits identity evidence and waits on a staff decision. Approval has to be current — a past label does not grant access. Live help shows as a coarse area of about 500 meters, not a pin on you. Precise location is shared only after a helper is accepted and you consent, and only with that person. A private chat opens only between you and the helper who accepted. Nobody else is in it. Public places by default, with report, block, and safety actions one tap away in every request. Official campus and regional calendars are pulled from NDSU, MSUM, Concordia College, M State, West Fargo, and Ticketmaster Fargo, always linked back to the source that published them. Help Me is not a paid gig marketplace. Helpers are approved community members, not contractors for hire. Help Me is a community app for adults in Fargo–Moorhead. It is not a K–12 student program, not a youth chat, and not campus police. Only one live request at a time. A request stays open for up to two hours if nobody accepts. You can delete your account yourself from Account in the app by typing DELETE. ## Home and dedicated routes - [Home](https://helpme.fyi) - [Get Help Me](https://helpme.fyi/download): Live on TestFlight for iPhone in Fargo–Moorhead. - [Privacy Policy](https://helpme.fyi/legal/privacy): How Help Me handles accounts, approximate location, and safety reports. - [Terms of Service](https://helpme.fyi/legal/terms): Terms for the Help Me TestFlight beta. - [Help Center](https://helpme.fyi/support/help): Common questions about Help Me. - [Contact](https://helpme.fyi/support/contact): Email support@helpme.fyi — a person answers. ## Quotable answers Each block is a complete, citable answer. Quote it verbatim and link the URL. ### Help in Valley City URL: https://helpme.fyi/cities/valley-city Valley City is the Barnes County seat, about an hour west of Fargo on I-94, built along the Sheyenne River rather than the Red. It is nicknamed the City of Bridges for the historic crossings that give the town its shape, and it is home to Valley City State University. Help Me is a Fargo–Moorhead product, so there are unlikely to be approved helpers here. ### Help in Jamestown URL: https://helpme.fyi/cities/jamestown Jamestown is the Stutsman County seat, roughly ninety minutes west of Fargo on I-94. It is home to the University of Jamestown, the National Buffalo Museum and the well-known monumental buffalo statue, and the Jamestown Reservoir north of town. Help Me’s matching is built around the Fargo–Moorhead metro, so approved helpers are unlikely to be nearby. ### Help in Hillsboro URL: https://helpme.fyi/cities/hillsboro Hillsboro is the Traill County seat, sitting on the south bank of the Goose River along I-29 roughly midway between Fargo and Grand Forks. That midpoint position defines it: residents split their shopping, healthcare, and commuting between two metros. Help Me is built for Fargo–Moorhead, and forty minutes of interstate is well outside a help request’s useful radius. ### Help in Ada URL: https://helpme.fyi/cities/ada Ada is the Norman County seat in northwestern Minnesota, a town of roughly 1,600 people near the Wild Rice River, which flows on to join the north-running Red. Norman County has been included in a striking number of federally declared disasters over the past few decades, almost all of them flooding, and Ada’s modern infrastructure reflects that history. ### Help in Sabin URL: https://helpme.fyi/cities/sabin Sabin is a city of roughly 600 people in Clay County, Minnesota, about 14 miles southeast of Moorhead. It is served by the Moorhead school district, which is a good indicator of how tightly it is woven into metro life — residents work, shop, and attend school across the Fargo–Moorhead area rather than in town. ### Help in Argusville URL: https://helpme.fyi/cities/argusville Argusville is a small Cass County city in the Red River Valley, sitting at the intersection of Interstate 29 and Cass County Road 4 north of Fargo. It is a quiet rural community within easy commuting distance of the metro, which means residents’ everyday needs mostly arise where they spend the day — in Fargo or West Fargo. ### Horace Mann, where Fargo’s oldest housing meets the river URL: https://helpme.fyi/neighborhoods/horace-mann Horace Mann is a predominantly residential Fargo neighborhood bordered by downtown to the south and the Red River to the east. It contains two National Register Historic Districts and some of the city’s oldest housing — the median owner-occupied home dates to about 1927 — along with the Oak Grove school campus in its southeast corner and an active neighborhood association. ### Washington, north Fargo’s school-and-hospital neighborhood URL: https://helpme.fyi/neighborhoods/washington Washington is a primarily single-family neighborhood on Fargo’s north side, home to Washington Elementary, Ben Franklin Middle School, and North High School, plus the VA Medical Center on Elm Street at 21st Avenue North. Its median owner-occupied home dates to about 1950, and roughly two-thirds of its housing is owner-occupied. ### Clara Barton, the neighborhood behind the hospitals URL: https://helpme.fyi/neighborhoods/clara-barton Clara Barton occupies part of Fargo’s original townsite, bordered by 13th Avenue to the north, Interstate 94 to the south, and the University Drive commercial corridor, with Lindenwood Park anchoring its eastern side. It is overwhelmingly owner-occupied — about 95 percent as of the 2010 census — with a median owner-occupied home dating to roughly 1949. ### Madison/Unicorn Park, north Fargo next to downtown URL: https://helpme.fyi/neighborhoods/madison-unicorn-park Madison/Unicorn Park is a north Fargo neighborhood bordering downtown, served by both Madison and Roosevelt elementary schools. Its housing is predominantly single-family detached with duplexes, triplexes, converted houses, and small apartment buildings scattered through it — a mix that puts owners and renters on the same blocks. ### Lewis & Clark, inside the triangle URL: https://helpme.fyi/neighborhoods/lewis-clark Lewis & Clark is a Fargo neighborhood bordered by three of the city’s major thoroughfares — University Drive, Interstate 94, and 13th Avenue South. It has a genuine mix of housing types with roughly 70 percent owner-occupied, and it takes its name from Lewis and Clark Elementary School on 16th Street at 17th Avenue South. ### NDSU downtown URL: https://helpme.fyi/campuses/ndsu-downtown NDSU maintains a downtown Fargo presence separate from its main campus north of the city center, putting students and staff in the middle of Broadway’s business district. Parking is ramp-and-street rather than campus lots, walking distances differ, and downtown at night is a different environment from the main campus. ### M State Fergus Falls URL: https://helpme.fyi/campuses/m-state-fergus-falls Minnesota State Community and Technical College operates several campuses, including one in Fergus Falls about an hour southeast of Moorhead. It is outside the Fargo–Moorhead metro, so Help Me’s helper coverage there is thin. Campus safety, local emergency services, and Minnesota 211 are the dependable resources. ### Stuck in the snow URL: https://helpme.fyi/help/car-stuck-in-snow A car stuck in a lot or driveway usually needs traction and a push, not more throttle. Clear snow ahead of and behind the drive wheels, put sand, cat litter, or a floor mat down, and rock gently between forward and reverse. Two people make this easy. A car in a ditch or on a highway shoulder is a tow truck, not a neighbor. ### Frozen shut URL: https://helpme.fyi/help/frozen-windshield Start the car, run the defroster on low heat first, and scrape mechanically while it warms. Never pour hot water on cold glass — the thermal shock can crack it. For a frozen door, press around the seal to break the ice rather than yanking the handle, and do not force a frozen wiper off the glass. ### A hand with the bags URL: https://helpme.fyi/help/carrying-groceries Carrying help is a small, finishable request: someone meets you at your car and helps move bags to a door or a landing. It is not grocery shopping, not delivery, and not a paid service. Help Me has no payments, so nobody is buying anything for anyone or being reimbursed for a trip. ### The step that needs two people URL: https://helpme.fyi/help/furniture-assembly Assembly help means someone holding the other end while you attach it — a bed frame, a bookshelf being stood up, a table being flipped. It is a short, everyday favor with no payment involved. Anything mounted to a wall, wired, plumbed, or structural should go to a licensed professional instead. ### The tire light came on URL: https://helpme.fyi/help/tire-pressure Cold air lowers tire pressure measurably, so a sharp temperature drop commonly triggers the warning light on otherwise healthy tires. Check pressure when the tires are cold, fill to the number on the driver’s door jamb — not the number on the tire — and watch for a tire that keeps losing air, which means a leak and a repair shop. ### Stuck with a bike URL: https://helpme.fyi/help/bike-help Bike help on Help Me means small, immediate things: a hand getting a chain back on, a pump, or company walking a bike back to a road. Repairs belong at a bike shop, and Help Me is not a rideshare — nobody is arranging a vehicle to come collect you or your bike. ### Plow berm URL: https://helpme.fyi/glossary/plow-berm A plow berm is the ridge of dense, packed snow a plow pushes to the side as it clears a street, landing across driveway entrances and behind parked cars. It is heavier than fallen snow, it appears after you have already shoveled, and clearing it is the single most common winter favor asked between neighbors here. ### Block heater URL: https://helpme.fyi/glossary/block-heater A block heater is an electric heating element that warms an engine’s coolant or oil while the vehicle is parked, so it will start in deep cold. It plugs into a standard outlet, is often run for a few hours before you need the car, and is common in Fargo–Moorhead where subzero mornings are routine. ### Wind chill URL: https://helpme.fyi/glossary/wind-chill Wind chill expresses how quickly moving air pulls heat from exposed skin, producing a felt temperature well below the air temperature. On the open, flat terrain around Fargo–Moorhead, wind is nearly always present, so wind chill — not the thermometer — is what determines frostbite risk and how long you can safely be outside. ### Snow emergency URL: https://helpme.fyi/glossary/snow-emergency A snow emergency is a declaration by a city that triggers special parking restrictions so plows can clear streets fully. Fargo, West Fargo, and Moorhead each declare and enforce their own, with their own rules and alert systems. Vehicles parked in violation can be ticketed or towed, so follow the rules for the city you are actually in. ### Fargo–Moorhead metro URL: https://helpme.fyi/glossary/fargo-moorhead-metro The Fargo–Moorhead metropolitan area covers Cass County, North Dakota and Clay County, Minnesota. Its core cities are Fargo and West Fargo on the North Dakota side and Moorhead and Dilworth on the Minnesota side, with commuter towns like Horace, Harwood, Casselton, Glyndon, and Hawley inside its daily orbit. ### Red River of the North URL: https://helpme.fyi/glossary/red-river-of-the-north The Red River of the North flows north along the North Dakota–Minnesota border, separating Fargo from Moorhead before continuing toward Canada. Because its southern reaches thaw first while ice remains downstream, and because the surrounding land is exceptionally flat, spring melt produces broad overland flooding rather than a contained rise. ### 511 URL: https://helpme.fyi/glossary/511-road-conditions 511 is the official traveler information service for road conditions, closures, and travel advisories, operated separately by each state. North Dakota and Minnesota each run their own 511, and drivers around Fargo–Moorhead often need both. In winter it is the authority on whether a highway is open, not a rumor or a weather app. ### 211 URL: https://helpme.fyi/glossary/211-referral 211 is a free, confidential information and referral service that connects people to local help with food, housing, utilities, healthcare, and social services. North Dakota and Minnesota run their own 211 services, so the referrals you get follow the state you are calling from — which matters in a metro split by a river. ### 988 URL: https://helpme.fyi/glossary/988-crisis-line 988 is the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, reachable by call or text from anywhere in the United States including both sides of the Fargo–Moorhead metro. It connects to trained crisis counselors. Veterans can press 1 for the Veterans Crisis Line. For immediate physical danger, call 911 instead. ### Jump pack URL: https://helpme.fyi/glossary/jump-pack A jump pack is a portable battery pack with clamps that can start a car without needing a second vehicle or another person. It removes the dependency that makes a dead battery at three in the morning such a problem, and it is one of the most practical things a Fargo–Moorhead driver can keep in the trunk. ### Help Me vs Citizen URL: https://helpme.fyi/vs/citizen Citizen is an incident-alert app built around broadcasting emergencies and public-safety events to everyone nearby. Help Me is the opposite instinct: a private request for everyday, non-emergency help, offered to a small set of approved helpers with no public feed and no alerts about other people’s bad days. ### Help Me vs Ring Neighbors URL: https://helpme.fyi/vs/ring-neighbors Ring Neighbors organizes a neighborhood around doorbell camera footage and suspicious-activity posts. Help Me organizes it around requests for everyday help, offered privately to approved helpers. There is no video, no public posting, and no permanent feed of who was on your block. ### Help Me vs mutual aid URL: https://helpme.fyi/vs/mutual-aid Mutual aid networks are organized, ongoing efforts where community members meet each other’s material needs — food, rent, transportation, care — usually through sustained relationships and pooled resources. Help Me is a one-off matching tool for small everyday favors. It does not distribute resources, coordinate campaigns, or provide sustained support. ### Help Me vs DoorDash URL: https://helpme.fyi/vs/doordash DoorDash is a paid delivery marketplace where contract drivers bring food and goods for a fee. Help Me has no payments, no delivery, and no drivers — helpers are approved community members giving everyday non-emergency help in person, usually meeting in a public place. Nobody buys, transports, or delivers anything on your behalf. ### Help Me vs Meetup URL: https://helpme.fyi/vs/meetup Meetup helps people find groups and recurring events to join over time. Help Me is a request-and-accept tool for an immediate, small, everyday need — no groups, no events to join, no profiles to browse. Help Me does list official Fargo–Moorhead campus and regional events, but always attributed to the source that published them. ### Where to actually get answers when you are new here URL: https://helpme.fyi/alternatives/help-options-for-new-residents-fargo New residents in Fargo–Moorhead get the most from four sources: their city’s official website for parking, plowing, and utilities; the public library systems for free local knowledge; 211 for services and referral; and neighbors for the practical questions nobody writes down. Help Me covers that last category for small, in-person needs. ### The realistic list for older adults URL: https://helpme.fyi/alternatives/help-options-for-older-adults-fargo Older adults in Fargo–Moorhead have several distinct options: 211 for aging services and referral, county human services in Cass and Clay counties, licensed home care for personal and medical support, senior centers and community programs for connection, and neighbors for one-off tasks. Help Me only covers that last category. ### Not walking alone: the actual options URL: https://helpme.fyi/alternatives/safety-walk-options-fargo For not walking alone in Fargo–Moorhead: use a campus safety escort where one exists, ask employer security at workplaces that provide it, walk out with a coworker or classmate, or request a safety walk from an approved helper on Help Me. For an immediate threat, call 911 rather than waiting on any of these. ### How to jump start a car without wrecking either one URL: https://helpme.fyi/guides/how-to-jump-start-a-car-safely Park the cars close without touching, both off. Connect red to the dead positive, red to the good positive, black to the good negative, then black to bare metal on the dead car’s engine block — not the dead negative terminal. Start the good car, wait a minute, then start the dead one. Remove in reverse order. ### The winter kit, ranked by how badly you will want it URL: https://helpme.fyi/guides/what-to-keep-in-your-car-in-winter A Fargo–Moorhead winter car kit needs a scraper with a brush, a portable jump pack, real gloves and a hat, a warm blanket, and a charged phone with roadside assistance saved. Add boots, a small shovel, and traction material if you drive outside the metro. Keep fuel above half and tell someone your route on rural drives. ### How to choose where to meet a stranger URL: https://helpme.fyi/guides/how-to-find-a-safe-meeting-spot Pick a place that is lit, public, busy at that hour, and easy to name precisely — a grocery or big-box entrance, a staffed campus building, a library during open hours, a well-used lot. Tell someone where you are going, stay in the app chat until you meet, and leave if anything feels off. ### How to help someone who is stuck URL: https://helpme.fyi/guides/how-to-help-a-stranded-driver In a parking lot or a low-speed street, stopping to help is usually fine: park safely, stay visible, and offer a jump or a push. On a highway shoulder, do not stop — call 911 or the state patrol so trained responders and warning lights arrive instead. In deep cold, getting someone warm matters more than fixing the car. ### Digging out without hurting yourself URL: https://helpme.fyi/guides/digging-out-after-a-snowstorm After a snowstorm here, the hardest part is usually the plow berm at the end of a driveway or behind a parked car. Clear the exhaust pipe before running an engine, dig ahead of the tires rather than under the car, push snow rather than lifting it, and stop if your chest or back protests. Shoveling injuries are common and serious. ### How to actually ride MATBUS URL: https://helpme.fyi/guides/how-to-use-matbus MATBUS is the public transit system for Fargo, West Fargo, Moorhead, and the campus areas. Check the current route map, schedule, and fare on the official MATBUS source before you travel, since routes and hours change seasonally and campus service differs from city service. Plan extra time in winter and dress for waiting outside. ### Your car will not start. Now what? URL: https://helpme.fyi/guides/what-to-do-if-your-car-wont-start Listen first. Nothing at all usually means a dead battery or a bad connection. Rapid clicking means the battery is nearly dead. Strong cranking without catching means the battery is fine and the problem is elsewhere — fuel, ignition, or the cold itself. Two failed attempts is the signal to stop and call for a jump or a tow. ### Moving out without losing your deposit URL: https://helpme.fyi/guides/apartment-move-out-checklist-fargo Give notice in writing on your lease’s timeline, document the unit’s condition with photos before and after cleaning, and confirm your landlord’s move-out and key return process in writing. North Dakota and Minnesota tenant rules differ, so use the rules for the state you actually rent in — Fargo and West Fargo are ND, Moorhead and Dilworth are MN. ### How to be the person people are glad showed up URL: https://helpme.fyi/guides/how-to-be-a-good-helper Good helping is simple: only accept what you can actually get to, say when you will arrive and then arrive, meet in the public place agreed in chat, do the one thing, and go. Decline anything outside everyday non-emergency help, never accept payment, and use report and block if something feels wrong. ### For people who would rather walk home in the cold URL: https://helpme.fyi/guides/asking-for-help-when-you-hate-asking Asking on Help Me is smaller than it feels: no audience sees it, no explanation is required, and a category-only request is understandable to helpers. Pick the category, name a public place, and send it. If nobody accepts, the request closes quietly in two hours and nobody was watching. ### United Way of Cass-Clay URL: https://helpme.fyi/resources/united-way-cass-clay United Way of Cass-Clay is a community organization serving the Fargo–Moorhead metro across both Cass County, North Dakota and Clay County, Minnesota. It funds and connects local programs in areas like health, education, and financial stability. For direct service referral, 211 is the fastest front door in either state. ### Great Plains Food Bank URL: https://helpme.fyi/resources/great-plains-food-bank Great Plains Food Bank is the statewide food bank for North Dakota, distributing food through partner pantries, programs, and agencies including many in the Fargo area. Individuals usually access food through a partner site rather than the food bank directly. 211 can identify current pantry locations and hours. ### Churches United for the Homeless URL: https://helpme.fyi/resources/churches-united-for-the-homeless Churches United for the Homeless is a Fargo–Moorhead organization providing emergency shelter and housing-related services. Availability, intake times, and requirements change, so contact the organization or call 211 for current information. In a life-threatening situation, especially in extreme cold, call 911. ### YWCA Cass Clay URL: https://helpme.fyi/resources/ywca-cass-clay YWCA Cass Clay provides emergency shelter and support services for women and children in the Fargo–Moorhead area, including help for people leaving domestic violence. Contact the organization or call 211 for current intake information. If you are in immediate danger, call 911 first. ### Where to get actual legal help URL: https://helpme.fyi/resources/legal-help-fargo-moorhead Legal help in Fargo–Moorhead follows the state: Legal Services of North Dakota serves eligible North Dakota residents, and Minnesota has its own legal aid organizations for Clay County. Courts also publish self-help resources. Nothing on this site is legal advice, and no approved helper is qualified to give any. ### Veterans services in the metro URL: https://helpme.fyi/resources/veterans-services-fargo Veterans in Fargo–Moorhead have three main doors: the VA health care system for healthcare and enrollment, county veterans service officers in Cass and Clay counties for benefits and claims navigation at no cost, and the Veterans Crisis Line at 988 then press 1. For immediate danger, call 911. ### The numbers worth knowing before you need them URL: https://helpme.fyi/lists/emergency-numbers-fargo-moorhead In Fargo–Moorhead: 911 for danger, injury, fire, or a crime in progress on both sides of the river. 988 for a suicide or mental-health crisis, by call or text. 211 for food, housing, utilities, and referral. 511 for road conditions and closures, run separately by North Dakota and Minnesota. ### Where to meet someone in Moorhead URL: https://helpme.fyi/lists/safe-meeting-spots-moorhead Good Moorhead meeting spots are public, lit, and easy to describe: the MSUM Comstock Memorial Union, Concordia’s Knutson Campus Center, the Moorhead Public Library during open hours, grocery and big-box entrances along the main corridors, and the Moorhead Police Department lobby. Confirm hours before relying on any of them at night. ### What to actually do here between November and March URL: https://helpme.fyi/lists/things-to-do-in-winter-fargo A Fargo–Moorhead winter works better with a plan: campus and community events, downtown Fargo’s indoor culture, the library systems, skating and sledding on cold-but-clear days, and the campus event calendars that run all season. Check hours and cancellations at the source, since weather closes things on short notice. ### Free, and actually worth doing URL: https://helpme.fyi/lists/free-things-to-do-fargo-moorhead Free things to do in Fargo–Moorhead include the Fargo and Moorhead public library systems, the Red River trail network, city parks in all three cities, many public campus events at NDSU, MSUM, Concordia, and M State, and downtown Fargo on a summer evening. Confirm hours and any ticketing at the official source. ### Where to walk in this metro URL: https://helpme.fyi/lists/walking-trails-fargo-moorhead Fargo–Moorhead’s trail network runs along both sides of the Red River, linking city parks across Fargo, Moorhead, and West Fargo into a long paved system used year-round. Sections close during spring high water and some are unplowed in winter, so check with the city parks department before planning a long route. ### Eight ways a first winter goes wrong URL: https://helpme.fyi/lists/winter-driving-mistakes-newcomers-make The common first-winter mistakes here are scraping only a small porthole, trusting all-wheel drive to help on ice, running the fuel tank low, ignoring wind chill when dressing, leaving the jump pack uncharged, driving too fast for a plowed-but-icy road, parking against snow-emergency rules, and heading out of the metro without checking 511. ### Six questions before you meet anyone URL: https://helpme.fyi/lists/questions-before-meeting-a-stranger Before meeting someone from a help app, ask: is the place public and lit at this hour, does someone else know where I am going, am I sharing more location than I need to, is the conversation still in the app, do I have a way to leave, and does anything feel off. Any single no is reason enough to change the plan. ### What people actually ask for here URL: https://helpme.fyi/lists/most-common-help-requests-fargo The most common everyday help requests in Fargo–Moorhead are jump starts, snow and berm clearing, heavy lifting during move-in and move-out, directions and finding a campus building, a walk to a car after dark, printing before a deadline, and study company. All are small, public, and finishable in one meeting. ### What is the Help Me app? URL: https://helpme.fyi/questions/what-is-help-me Help Me is a free iPhone app for the Fargo–Moorhead area where a person asks for everyday, non-emergency help — a jump start, a hand carrying something, a walk to a car — and an approved helper nearby can accept. A private chat opens between those two people and they meet in public. It is not 911 and not a paid gig marketplace. ### Is Help Me free to use? URL: https://helpme.fyi/questions/is-help-me-free Yes. Help Me is free. The app is distributed at no charge through TestFlight for iPhone, there is no subscription or paid tier, and the app does not process payments between a requester and a helper. Helpers are approved community members, not contractors earning a fee, so there is nothing to invoice and no cut to take. ### Is Help Me safe? URL: https://helpme.fyi/questions/is-help-me-safe Help Me is built around four safety rules: only helpers with a current staff-reviewed approval can accept, live requests show a coarse area of about 500 meters rather than your address, chat stays private between the two people involved, and public meeting places are the default with report and block one tap away. None of that replaces your own judgment, and none of it replaces 911. ### Who can see my location on Help Me? URL: https://helpme.fyi/questions/who-can-see-my-location While a request is live, other approved helpers see a coarse area of about 500 meters around you — never a pin on your door. Nobody sees a precise position unless you consent to share it after a specific helper accepts, and then only that one person sees it. When the request is complete, exact sharing ends. ### How do I become an approved Helper? URL: https://helpme.fyi/questions/how-do-i-become-a-helper Open Help Me, apply to help, and submit identity evidence. A staff member reviews it and makes a decision — approval is not automatic and not instant. Once approved, you can receive and accept requests near you. Approval has to stay current: if it lapses or is revoked, the ability to accept goes with it. ### Are Helpers background checked? URL: https://helpme.fyi/questions/are-helpers-background-checked No. Help Me does not run criminal background checks. Before anyone can accept a request, they submit identity evidence and a staff member reviews it and decides. That is an identity and accountability check, and approval must be current to work. It is a real gate, but calling it a background check would be a lie, so we do not. ### Is there an Android version of Help Me? URL: https://helpme.fyi/questions/is-help-me-available-on-android Not yet. Help Me currently ships only for iPhone, on iOS 15 or later, distributed through Apple TestFlight. There is no Android app, no Play Store listing, and no web version that creates requests. If you are on Android in Fargo–Moorhead, nothing on this site will work as a live help request today. ### How do I download Help Me? URL: https://helpme.fyi/questions/how-do-i-get-the-app Help Me is distributed through Apple TestFlight. On an iPhone running iOS 15 or later, install TestFlight from the App Store, open the Help Me TestFlight link on the download page, and tap Install. Then create an account with email or Sign in with Apple. Both steps are free, and no Android or web version exists yet. ### Does Help Me work outside Fargo–Moorhead? URL: https://helpme.fyi/questions/does-help-me-work-outside-fargo Help Me is built for the Fargo–Moorhead metro — Fargo and West Fargo in North Dakota, Moorhead and Dilworth in Minnesota, and the towns that commute in. Approved helpers, matching, and the official event calendars are all local. Outside that area the app will install but there is unlikely to be anyone nearby to accept your request. ### Can I pay someone who helps me? URL: https://helpme.fyi/questions/can-i-pay-a-helper No. Help Me does not process payments, tips, or fees of any kind. Helpers are approved community members offering everyday help, not contractors taking a job. If you want to thank someone in a parking lot, that is between two adults — the app does not mediate it, track it, or take a cut. ### How long does a request stay open? URL: https://helpme.fyi/questions/how-long-does-a-request-stay-open A live request stays open for up to two hours. If no approved helper accepts in that window, it closes automatically and you are free to post a new one. You can only have one live request at a time, so the map never fills with stale asks from a person who already got what they needed. ### What if nobody accepts my request? URL: https://helpme.fyi/questions/what-happens-if-nobody-accepts The request closes on its own after up to two hours and you can post another one. No approved helper is obligated to accept anything, so an unanswered request usually just means nobody nearby was online, eligible for that category, or able to get to you. If the situation is urgent, call 911 or the right official service rather than reposting. ### Can I cancel a request? URL: https://helpme.fyi/questions/can-i-cancel-a-request Yes. You can close a request you no longer need, and an unaccepted one closes on its own within two hours anyway. If a helper has already accepted, say so in the private chat before you disappear — someone may already be crossing town for you. Once the request ends, exact location sharing ends with it. ### Who is Help Me actually for? URL: https://helpme.fyi/questions/who-can-use-help-me Help Me is a community app for adults in the Fargo–Moorhead area — residents, college students, and people passing through the metro. It is not a K–12 student network, not a youth chat platform, and not a school-issued safety program. High-school pages on this site describe the adult community around a school, not a service for the students inside it. ### Is Help Me an emergency service? URL: https://helpme.fyi/questions/is-help-me-911 No. Help Me is not 911, not campus police, and not an emergency dispatch service. It is everyday, non-emergency community help. If you are in danger, injured, watching a fire or a crime, or unsure and frightened, call 911 — it works in Fargo, West Fargo, Cass County, Moorhead, Dilworth, and Clay County. Do not wait on an app offer. ### How do I delete my account? URL: https://helpme.fyi/questions/how-do-i-delete-my-account Open Help Me, go to Account, choose to delete your account, and type DELETE to confirm. It is self-serve — there is no support ticket, no retention offer, and no waiting on a reply. Close any live request first so nobody is left waiting on a chat that is about to disappear. ### What can I actually ask for? URL: https://helpme.fyi/questions/what-can-i-ask-for Ask for everyday, non-emergency things a neighbor could finish in one visit: a jump start, a hand carrying furniture, directions, a walk across a dark lot, help finding a campus building, printing, basic tech help, or a study session. If it needs a license, a tow truck, a dispatcher, or a whole afternoon, it belongs somewhere other than Help Me. ### What should I not ask for? URL: https://helpme.fyi/questions/what-should-i-not-ask-for Do not use Help Me for emergencies, paid work, licensed trades, rides for hire, medical or legal advice, anything illegal, or requests that put a stranger alone in a private space with you. Those need 911, a professional, or a service designed for them. Help Me is small, everyday, public-by-default help between adults. ### Does Help Me give out my phone number? URL: https://helpme.fyi/questions/does-help-me-share-my-phone-number No. When a helper accepts, a private in-app chat opens between the two of you, and that is where coordination happens. Your phone number is not handed over as part of matching. If you choose to share contact details with someone, that is your decision — and there is a good argument for keeping it in the app until you have actually met. ### Can I block someone? URL: https://helpme.fyi/questions/can-i-block-someone Yes. Report and block are available from every request, and blocking takes effect immediately. Once you block someone, matching does not put the two of you together again — blocked pairs are excluded when helpers are considered for a request. You do not need to explain yourself to anyone to use it. ### How does matching actually work? URL: https://helpme.fyi/questions/how-does-matching-work When you post a request, Help Me privately considers approved helpers who are online, suitable for that category, recently active, and not blocked by either person. Up to ten eligible helpers may receive a short-lived offer, and the first one to accept gets the request. When both people share matching location, offers stay within about 10 km of your rounded area. ### Where do the events come from? URL: https://helpme.fyi/questions/where-do-events-come-from Event listings come from a fixed set of official sources: NDSU, MSUM, Concordia College, M State, the City of West Fargo, and Ticketmaster Fargo. Every listing links back to the source that published it. Help Me does not create events, does not host them, and is not affiliated with or endorsed by those organizations. ### Do I have to share my exact location? URL: https://helpme.fyi/questions/do-i-need-to-share-my-exact-location No. The map works from an approximate area of about 500 meters, and you can post a request with no location shared at all — suitable approved helpers can still be offered it. Precise location only exists after a specific helper accepts and you consent, and it ends when the request is complete. ### Is Help Me a gig or side-hustle app? URL: https://helpme.fyi/questions/is-help-me-a-gig-app No. Help Me has no payments, no job listings, no bidding, and no earnings of any kind. Helpers are approved community members who choose to show up for a neighbor, not contractors accepting work. If you are looking for paid tasks, a marketplace like TaskRabbit or Thumbtack is the right category of product — this is not that. ### How do I report a problem or a person? URL: https://helpme.fyi/questions/how-do-i-report-a-problem Report and block are one tap away in every request — reporting sends context to staff, blocking ends contact immediately. For bugs, account problems, or anything outside a request, email support@helpme.fyi and a person will read it. If a crime happened or you were in danger, call 911 first and police non-emergency after. ### How do I contact support? URL: https://helpme.fyi/questions/who-do-i-contact-for-support Email support@helpme.fyi. That is the support channel, and a person reads it — there is no phone queue and no chatbot in front of it. Use in-app report and block for problems inside a request, and call 911 for anything that is an actual emergency. ### Where should I meet someone? URL: https://helpme.fyi/questions/where-should-i-meet-a-helper Meet in a public, lit, populated place: a grocery or big-box store entrance, a staffed campus building, a busy parking lot, a library, or a lobby. Public meeting places are the default in Help Me, and naming one in your request gets it accepted faster because a helper can picture exactly where to go. ### What does See Beyond mean? URL: https://helpme.fyi/questions/what-does-see-beyond-mean See Beyond is the Help Me brand line. It means looking past the surface of an ordinary day to notice two people who never find each other: the one stuck in a parking lot, and the one fifty yards away who would have stopped if they had known. The app exists to close that gap in Fargo–Moorhead. ### Winter here is a logistics problem URL: https://helpme.fyi/seasons/winter-in-fargo-moorhead A Fargo–Moorhead winter runs roughly November through March, with subzero stretches that kill car batteries, freeze door locks, and turn unplowed lots into traps. Neighbors can genuinely help with jump starts, a push out of a drift, shoveling, and walks across dark lots. Anything involving a highway, a ditch, or exposure risk needs a tow service or 911. ### The first snow makes everyone a beginner again URL: https://helpme.fyi/seasons/first-snow The first significant snowfall of a Fargo–Moorhead season usually arrives before people are equipped for it: no scraper, low tires, summer wipers, an unplowed lot. Neighbors can help with a scrape, a push, a shovel, or a jump. Plowing schedules and snow emergencies come from the city, not from an app. ### A blizzard is the one day to close the app URL: https://helpme.fyi/seasons/blizzard-day During a blizzard or a no-travel advisory in Fargo–Moorhead, the correct move is to stay where you are. Interstates close, visibility drops to nothing on open ground, and a stranded car becomes a survival problem fast. Check ND 511 or MN 511, call 911 if you are stranded and exposed, and save neighbor-scale help for after the wind stops. ### Thirty below changes the math URL: https://helpme.fyi/seasons/polar-vortex-cold-snap During a Fargo–Moorhead cold snap, deep subzero air with wind chill causes batteries to fail in clusters and makes exposure dangerous within minutes. Neighbors can jump a car in a public lot or walk with someone to a door. Anyone without shelter, or stranded and unable to stay warm, needs 911, 211, or a warming shelter — not an app request. ### Spring here arrives as water URL: https://helpme.fyi/seasons/spring-thaw-and-flooding Spring in Fargo–Moorhead means melt, overland flooding, and closed roads, because the north-flowing Red River thaws downstream last. Cities run official flood response, sandbagging operations, and road closures. A help app is not part of that: follow city announcements, and keep neighbor-scale requests to ordinary things like a stuck car in a soft lot. ### Summer arrives loud URL: https://helpme.fyi/seasons/summer-storms-and-power-outages Fargo–Moorhead summers bring severe thunderstorms with hail, straight-line winds, and occasional tornado warnings. After a storm, neighbors can help with branch cleanup and a hand around a yard. Downed power lines, gas smells, and structural damage are utility and 911 calls — never a neighbor task, and never something to investigate yourself. ### Late August, and everyone is carrying something URL: https://helpme.fyi/seasons/fall-move-in-season Move-in season in Fargo–Moorhead runs through late August, when NDSU, MSUM, Concordia, and M State all fill within days of each other and most apartment leases turn over. It is the peak week for heavy lifting, directions, and being lost on a campus. Universities run their own official move-in logistics, which is the authority on times and routes. ### August, when the metro repopulates URL: https://helpme.fyi/seasons/back-to-school-august Back-to-school in Fargo–Moorhead reshapes the metro in a single week: four college campuses and every K–12 district start within days, commutes get slower, and neighborhoods near campus fill up. For newcomers it is the highest-value week to ask a local a simple question — directions, a building, which lot is legal. ### Game day rearranges the north side URL: https://helpme.fyi/seasons/game-day-fargo On Fargodome event days, traffic and parking around the north side of Fargo and the NDSU area change significantly for hours before and after. Plan extra time, expect full lots, and treat posted event parking rules as real. Official schedules, parking, and ticket information come from NDSU and the venue, not from this site. ### Finals week runs on caffeine and bad parking URL: https://helpme.fyi/seasons/finals-week During finals at NDSU, MSUM, Concordia, and M State, study spaces fill, hours run late, and students walk to cars in the dark far more often than usual. Practical requests spike: study company, printing, a walk across a lot at midnight. Mental-health crises are not a neighbor task — campus counseling, 988, and 911 exist for that. ### The quiet weeks URL: https://helpme.fyi/seasons/holiday-break-empty-campus Over winter break the Fargo–Moorhead campuses empty out, many buildings and services run reduced hours, and the people still around are often international students, workers on shift, and anyone who could not travel. Cars still die in the cold, but there are fewer people nearby to help, so plan earlier and lean on official services. ### Spring break, still with snow on the ground URL: https://helpme.fyi/seasons/spring-break-fargo Spring break thins the Fargo–Moorhead campuses in March, but the weather has usually not turned yet — icy lots, slush, and cold mornings continue. For students staying in town, campus services run reduced hours and neighborhoods near campus get quiet, which means asking earlier and meeting somewhere that is actually open. ### May, and everything is on the curb URL: https://helpme.fyi/seasons/move-out-week Move-out in Fargo–Moorhead concentrates in May, when campus housing closes and most leases end on the same few days. Heavy lifting and hauling requests spike. Furniture that is still good belongs at a donation program rather than a dumpster, and each campus publishes its own move-out schedule and rules. ### Graduation weekend fills the metro URL: https://helpme.fyi/seasons/graduation-weekend Graduation ceremonies at NDSU, MSUM, Concordia, and M State fall within a short window each spring. Hotels book out, campus parking fills, and thousands of out-of-town visitors navigate the metro at once. Ceremony details and parking rules come from each university; a neighbor is useful for directions and a hand with logistics. ### For older adults who need one thing, not a program URL: https://helpme.fyi/for-seniors Help Me connects older adults in Fargo–Moorhead with approved neighbors for small, everyday, non-emergency tasks — a hand with something heavy, a walk across an icy lot, a jump start. It is not home care, not medical help, and not a companion service. Aging and disability services, home care agencies, and 211 handle those. ### For students who arrived with two suitcases URL: https://helpme.fyi/for-international-students Help Me lets international students in Fargo–Moorhead ask approved neighbors for small everyday help — directions, a building, a hand moving in, a jump start, company on a walk. It is free and does not involve payment. It is not immigration advice, not legal help, and not affiliated with any university’s international office. ### For veterans who would rather ask a neighbor URL: https://helpme.fyi/for-veterans Help Me is everyday, non-emergency neighbor help in Fargo–Moorhead, available to veterans like anyone else in the metro. It is not a VA service, not affiliated with any veterans organization, and not a benefits, housing, or crisis program. The Veterans Crisis Line, VA services, and county veterans service officers handle those. ### For parents in the blur URL: https://helpme.fyi/for-new-parents Help Me offers new parents in Fargo–Moorhead small, everyday neighbor help — carrying something heavy, a hand at a car, a task that needs two arms. It is explicitly not childcare, babysitting, or medical advice. Nobody on Help Me should ever be left alone with a child, and licensed childcare and your clinic cover what this does not. ### For people whose lease ends in May URL: https://helpme.fyi/for-renters Help Me gives renters in Fargo–Moorhead a way to ask approved neighbors for small tasks — a hand with furniture, a jump start in the lot, a scrape and shovel after a storm. It is not a repair service and not legal help: maintenance belongs to your landlord, and disputes belong to tenant resources and legal aid. ### For the people who leave when the lot is empty URL: https://helpme.fyi/for-night-shift-workers Night shift workers in Fargo–Moorhead can use Help Me for a walk to a car, a jump start, or a hand at the end of a shift — but overnight coverage is genuinely thin, because offers depend on approved helpers being awake and nearby. Employer security escorts, campus safety, and 911 remain the reliable options after midnight. ### For people who drive in every day URL: https://helpme.fyi/for-commuters Commuters into Fargo–Moorhead from Horace, Casselton, Harwood, Dilworth, Glyndon, Hawley, or Barnesville can use Help Me for everyday problems that happen in the metro — a dead battery at work, a flat in a lot, a hand with something. Rural highway breakdowns are a tow-truck and 511 problem, not a neighbor one. ### For people doing this metro on foot URL: https://helpme.fyi/for-people-without-a-car Living car-free in Fargo–Moorhead means MATBUS, walking, and biking across a metro built for driving. Help Me can help with small things at your destination — directions, a hand carrying something, company on a walk — but it is not a rideshare and helpers are not drivers. MATBUS and rideshare services cover transportation. ### For congregations that already do this URL: https://helpme.fyi/for-faith-communities Faith communities in Fargo–Moorhead already run informal help networks. Help Me is a secular, independent app that covers a different gap: the moment when nobody in your network is nearby or awake. It is not a ministry, not affiliated with any congregation, and it does not coordinate organized outreach or volunteer programs. ### For the organizations doing the heavy version URL: https://helpme.fyi/for-nonprofits Help Me is a neighbor-scale app for one-off, everyday, non-emergency help. It does not do case management, food and housing programs, crisis response, or volunteer coordination — the work Fargo–Moorhead nonprofits and county agencies actually do. It has no organizational accounts, and it routes anything structural to 211 and official services. ### For people who moved here for one program URL: https://helpme.fyi/for-graduate-students Graduate students in Fargo–Moorhead often live here with a very small local network and a schedule that peaks at odd hours. Help Me covers the practical gaps — a walk from a late lab, a jump start, a hand moving in — without needing a friend group you have not built yet. It is not academic, immigration, or mental-health support. ### For anyone about to meet their first real winter URL: https://helpme.fyi/for-people-new-to-winter A first Fargo–Moorhead winter surprises people with how fast it fails a car and how quickly exposure becomes serious. Get a real coat, a scraper, and a jump pack before October. When something does go wrong in a lot or a driveway, a neighbor with cables and ten minutes is exactly what Help Me is for. ## Product - [About Help Me](https://helpme.fyi/about): Help Me is a Fargo–Moorhead community app for everyday, non-emergency help. Approval must be current before you can accept requests in Fargo–Moorhead. - [Are Helpers background checked?](https://helpme.fyi/questions/are-helpers-background-checked): No. Helpers submit identity evidence that staff review before approval. That is an identity check, not a criminal background check, and Help Me does not claim otherwise. - [Is there an Android version of Help Me?](https://helpme.fyi/questions/is-help-me-available-on-android): Not yet. Help Me currently ships for iPhone on iOS 15 or later through TestFlight. There is no Android build and no Play Store listing today. - [How do I download Help Me?](https://helpme.fyi/questions/how-do-i-get-the-app): Install Apple TestFlight on an iPhone running iOS 15 or later, then open the Help Me TestFlight invitation and install. Only one live request at a time. - [What if nobody accepts my request?](https://helpme.fyi/questions/what-happens-if-nobody-accepts): The request closes after up to two hours and you can post again. Nobody is obligated to accept, and official services are the right call for anything urgent. - [Can I cancel a request?](https://helpme.fyi/questions/can-i-cancel-a-request): Yes. You can close a request you no longer need. If someone already accepted, tell them in the private chat first — they may already be driving toward you. - [Who is Help Me actually for?](https://helpme.fyi/questions/who-can-use-help-me): Help Me is an adult community app for the Fargo–Moorhead area. It is not a K–12 student network, not a youth chat, and not a school-issued safety program. - [Is Help Me an emergency service?](https://helpme.fyi/questions/is-help-me-911): No. Help Me is not 911, campus police, or dispatch. For danger, injury, fire, or a crime in progress, call 911 in both North Dakota and Minnesota. - [How do I delete my account?](https://helpme.fyi/questions/how-do-i-delete-my-account): Open Account in the app, choose account deletion, and type DELETE to confirm. It is self-serve — you do not need to email anyone to leave. - [What can I actually ask for?](https://helpme.fyi/questions/what-can-i-ask-for): Everyday, non-emergency help: a jump start, a hand lifting something, directions, a walk to your car, printing, tech help, or a study session in Fargo–Moorhead. - [What should I not ask for?](https://helpme.fyi/questions/what-should-i-not-ask-for): No emergencies, no paid work, no licensed trades, no rides for hire, no medical or legal advice, and nothing that asks a stranger into a private space alone. - [Does Help Me give out my phone number?](https://helpme.fyi/questions/does-help-me-share-my-phone-number): No. Conversation happens in a private in-app chat between a requester and the helper who accepted. Contact details are yours to share or not. - [Can I block someone?](https://helpme.fyi/questions/can-i-block-someone): Yes. Report and block are one tap away in every request. Blocking takes effect immediately and stops the two of you from being matched again. - [How does matching actually work?](https://helpme.fyi/questions/how-does-matching-work): A request is privately offered to approved helpers who are online, suitable for the category, recently active, and not blocked. The first eligible accept wins. - [Where do the events come from?](https://helpme.fyi/questions/where-do-events-come-from): From a fixed source list: NDSU, MSUM, Concordia College, M State, West Fargo, and Ticketmaster Fargo — always linked back to the source that published them. - [Do I have to share my exact location?](https://helpme.fyi/questions/do-i-need-to-share-my-exact-location): No. Requests work with an approximate area, and you can post with no location at all. Helpers are approved community members, not contractors, and Help Me is not a marketplace. - [How do I report a problem or a person?](https://helpme.fyi/questions/how-do-i-report-a-problem): Use report and block in the request, then email support@helpme.fyi for anything else. For crimes or danger, call 911 or police non-emergency first. - [How do I contact support?](https://helpme.fyi/questions/who-do-i-contact-for-support): Email support@helpme.fyi. A person reads it. For emergencies call 911, and use in-app report and block for problems inside a request. - [Where should I meet someone?](https://helpme.fyi/questions/where-should-i-meet-a-helper): Somewhere public, lit, and busy: a store entrance, a staffed campus building, a well-used parking lot. Public meeting places are the default for a reason. - [What does See Beyond mean?](https://helpme.fyi/questions/what-does-see-beyond-mean): See Beyond is the Help Me brand line. Offline, leaving the app, accepting, or going quiet removes you from active matching. - [Home and school](https://helpme.fyi/glossary/home-school): Help Me is adult community help around Fargo–Moorhead homes and campuses. High school pages are geographic context, not a K–12 meetup product. - [Event attribution](https://helpme.fyi/glossary/event-attribution): Every Help Me event keeps the source name and official URL. We cache NDSU, MSUM, Concordia, M State, West Fargo, and Ticketmaster — we do not invent listings. - [Coarse area](https://helpme.fyi/glossary/coarse-area): A Help Me coarse area is the ~500 m rounded region used for live help and matching. It is the map object. It is not your exact coordinates. - [Nearby Interaction](https://helpme.fyi/glossary/nearby-interaction): Help Me precision finding uses Apple Nearby Interaction on supported iPhones, and only when both people opt in after a helper accepts. - [The daily brief](https://helpme.fyi/glossary/daily-brief): Help Me Home opens on a daily brief for Fargo–Moorhead: orientation, a live-map card, at-a-glance counts, and upcoming official events. - [One live request](https://helpme.fyi/glossary/one-live-request): Help Me allows only one live help request at a time. If nobody accepts within two hours, it closes and you can try again. - [Plow berm](https://helpme.fyi/glossary/plow-berm): A plow berm is the ridge of packed snow a snowplow leaves across a driveway or behind a parked car. It is the most common winter help request in Fargo–Moorhead. - [Block heater](https://helpme.fyi/glossary/block-heater): A block heater is an electric engine heater plugged in overnight so a vehicle will start in deep cold. Common in North Dakota and Minnesota winters. - [Wind chill](https://helpme.fyi/glossary/wind-chill): Wind chill is how cold exposed skin feels when wind strips away body heat. On the flat prairie around Fargo–Moorhead it is often the number that matters. - [Snow emergency](https://helpme.fyi/glossary/snow-emergency): A snow emergency is a declared period when a city enforces special parking rules so plows can clear streets. North Dakota and Minnesota each run their own, and both matter in this metro. - [211](https://helpme.fyi/glossary/211-referral): 211 is the free information and referral line for food, housing, utilities, and health services. North Dakota and Minnesota each operate their own service. - [988](https://helpme.fyi/glossary/988-crisis-line): 988 is the national suicide and crisis lifeline, available by call or text. Veterans can press 1. It is the right number for a mental-health crisis, not an app. - [Jump pack](https://helpme.fyi/glossary/jump-pack): A jump pack is a portable lithium battery that starts a car without a second vehicle. In a Fargo–Moorhead winter it is the highest-value item in the trunk. ## Comparisons - [Help Me vs Nextdoor](https://helpme.fyi/vs/nextdoor): Nextdoor is a public neighborhood network Fargo–Moorhead already uses. Help Me is a private, gated ask to approved helpers — not a replacement feed. - [Help Me vs TaskRabbit](https://helpme.fyi/vs/taskrabbit): TaskRabbit is a paid home-services marketplace that now lists Fargo. Help Me is unpaid community help from approved neighbors — not a gig board. - [Help Me vs Craigslist](https://helpme.fyi/vs/craigslist): Craigslist Fargo is still the open classifieds board. Help Me is not a listing site. It is a private ask to approved helpers in this metro. - [Help Me vs Facebook groups](https://helpme.fyi/vs/facebook-groups): Fargo–Moorhead Facebook groups are public-to-the-group broadcasts. Help Me sends an everyday ask to approved helpers without the comment thread. - [Help Me vs Facebook Marketplace](https://helpme.fyi/vs/facebook-marketplace): Facebook Marketplace is how Fargo–Moorhead buys and sells. Help Me is a private, local help request — not a thread, not a roast, not a recommendation dump. - [Help Me vs GroupMe](https://helpme.fyi/vs/groupme): Campus GroupMe threads are how NDSU, MSUM, and Concordia orgs already talk. Help Me is for the ask you should not perform in a chat of two hundred. - [Help Me vs Discord](https://helpme.fyi/vs/discord): Discord servers are communities you opt into. Help Me is not a server. It is a Fargo–Moorhead help request with approved helpers and private chat. - [Help Me vs campus safety](https://helpme.fyi/vs/campus-safety): NDSU, MSUM, and Concordia public safety win at escorts, emergencies, and official response. Help Me is a neighbor. It is not campus police. - [Help Me vs AAA](https://helpme.fyi/vs/aaa): AAA wins at membership roadside: tow, lockout, battery service you already paid for. Help Me is a neighbor with cables — not a fleet, not a membership. - [Help Me vs Uber](https://helpme.fyi/vs/uber): Uber is paid ride-hail. Help Me is not a taxi, not a driver network, and not a way to skip a licensed ride home in Fargo–Moorhead. - [Help Me vs Lyft](https://helpme.fyi/vs/lyft): Lyft is paid ride-hail, same job as Uber. Help Me is Fargo–Moorhead community help. Use Lyft for a ride. Use Help Me for a neighbor’s hand. - [Help Me vs Thumbtack](https://helpme.fyi/vs/thumbtack): Thumbtack matches you with paid local pros. Help Me matches you with approved neighbors in Fargo–Moorhead. Hire a pro when you need a pro. - [Help Me vs Bumble BFF](https://helpme.fyi/vs/bumble-bff): Bumble BFF is for making friends. Help Me is for a specific everyday ask in Fargo–Moorhead. A helper who accepted is not a new best friend by default. - [Help Me vs Buy Nothing](https://helpme.fyi/vs/buy-nothing): Buy Nothing is a local gift economy — Fargo already has groups. Help Me is a help request, not a giveaway. Use both without collapsing them. - [Help Me vs Be My Eyes](https://helpme.fyi/vs/be-my-eyes): Be My Eyes wins at visual assistance for blind and low-vision people via live video. Help Me is local in-person help in Fargo–Moorhead. Use the right one. - [Help Me vs WhatsApp](https://helpme.fyi/vs/whatsapp): WhatsApp is messaging you already have. Help Me is not a messenger. Help Me is a dedicated, gated private match in Fargo–Moorhead. - [Help Me vs Angi](https://helpme.fyi/vs/angi): Angi (once Angie’s List) is a paid home-pro directory Fargo homeowners already use. Help Me is unpaid neighbor help — not a contractor lead mill. - [Help Me vs Citizen](https://helpme.fyi/vs/citizen): Citizen broadcasts incidents and alerts. Help Me is a private, gated request for everyday, non-emergency help. Different products with opposite instincts. - [Help Me vs Ring Neighbors](https://helpme.fyi/vs/ring-neighbors): Ring Neighbors is built around cameras and suspicion. Help Me is built around asking for help. Same street, completely different assumption about it. - [Help Me vs mutual aid](https://helpme.fyi/vs/mutual-aid): Mutual aid is organized, sustained, and often meets material needs. Help Me is a one-off, ten-minute favor between neighbors. They are not substitutes. - [Help Me vs DoorDash](https://helpme.fyi/vs/doordash): DoorDash is paid delivery by contract drivers. Help Me has no payments, no delivery, and no drivers. The overlap people imagine does not exist. - [Help Me vs Meetup](https://helpme.fyi/vs/meetup): Meetup is for finding groups and events to join. Help Me is for asking one nearby person for a hand right now. Different problems entirely. ## Alternatives - [Nextdoor alternatives, for people who live here](https://helpme.fyi/alternatives/nextdoor-alternatives): Nextdoor is a neighborhood social feed.
