It happens constantly: a coworker had cables, the door was unlocked, the friend showed up. Close it. There is no penalty, and a stale live request is worse for everyone than a canceled one.
If someone is already on the way
Two sentences in the chat is the whole obligation: it is handled, thank you, sorry for the trip. Vanishing on someone who left what they were doing for you is the one thing that makes people stop showing up for each other.
